Our program model

Conceptual rendering — this space does not yet exist.

Before a survivor can process a loss, they need to be able to rest.

Most grief care begins with talking.

The Elle Fisher Foundation begins earlier. After suicide loss, the body and mind separate, and a person who cannot sleep, eat, or stop bracing cannot yet do the harder work of grief.

Our programs are built on one principle: rest first, hope follows.

Samsāra Sanctuary Phase One

Our flagship program will begin as a rest-first residential home in rural Utah for suicide loss survivors and families of attempt survivors.

Twelve beds, occupied on a rolling basis. Families and individuals will share the house. Each guest will stay on an individualized timeline, because grief does not resolve on a schedule, and a program that pretends otherwise asks survivors to perform recovery rather than find it.

Phase One is non-clinical. It is designed to work alongside therapists, grief counselors, and postvention organizations, not to replace them.

The three movements of a stay

1

Landing

The house provides meals, laundry, a private room, and no expectations. Survivors are released from the daily tasks grief has made impossible.

2

Rhythm

A calm daily shape: shared meals, time outdoors, and the presence of others who share this loss. Connection is available, never required.

3

Return

Readiness to go home is decided in conversation between the guest, our founder, and, with consent, the guest's therapist. The stay ends with a considered handoff back to existing support, not a discharge date.

What we will report

Once Phase One is operating, we will report what we can honestly count: nights of rest provided, guests and families hosted, readiness conversations held, and consented handoffs completed back to ongoing care.

We will not publish outcomes we have not measured. Grief is too serious for invented numbers.

Where this goes

1

Phase One

A rest-first home in rural Utah, proving the model with real guests.

2

Phase Two

A capital campaign to build Samsāra Sanctuary as a purpose-designed refuge, begun once Phase One has earned it.

3

Beyond

A model other communities can replicate, so no survivor has to travel far to find somewhere to rest.

Our pillars of care

Rest & Stabilization

Before anything else, the body needs to stop bracing.

Grief lives in sleep, appetite, and the nervous system long before it becomes something a person can talk about. Rest is not a break between other programming. It is the starting point.

This matters most for the people most often overlooked in suicide loss: children and young survivors. Left uncared for, grief in a child doesn't just linger — research and lived experience both point to the same pattern: that unprocessed loss can echo forward into the next generation.

Clinical treatment alone — therapy on a schedule, medication — doesn't give a grieving body the time and presence it actually needs first.

Rest does.

Specific protocols — room layout, staffing during rest periods, and daily scheduling — are pending clinical advisor review before publication as operational fact.

Nourishment & Physical Care

Meals prepared, not managed. A body cared for without being monitored.

Physical care here is not clinical supervision. It is the ordinary, unglamorous work of making sure someone eats, sleeps somewhere safe, and is not left to manage their own body alone while carrying something this heavy.

Creative Practice

Not art therapy. Not a workshop with a worksheet at the end.

Photography. Painting. Writing. The kind of creative practice that asks nothing of the result — no gallery, no publication, no performance of talent. Just a way to move grief through the hands, or through the eye, instead of only carrying it in the chest.

This pillar exists because creative expression has been a survival practice long before it was ever clinical practice. Samsāra Sanctuary treats it as exactly that: not treatment, but a way through.

Optional
Faith-led Support

Available. Never assumed. Never required.

Some guests will want quiet space to wrestle with faith and doubt in the middle of loss. Others won't. Samsāra Sanctuary makes room for both without deciding in advance which one a guest should be.

Compassionate Presence

Not group therapy. Not a circle where everyone has to share.

The presence of other people who understand exactly what's being carried, because they're carrying something like it — available without being mandatory, present without being a performance of healing together.

Sponsored Access

For survivors facing financial hardship, cost will not be the reason care is out of reach.

Sponsored stays are part of the model itself, not an exception bolted onto it.

Eligibility criteria and the application process for sponsored access are still being finalized with our clinical and financial advisors. This page will be updated with specific details once that review is complete.

Whats Absent Deliberately

No mandatory therapy sessions. No diagnosis required to participate. No forced programming disguised as structure. No performance of healing on a timeline that suits anyone but the guest.

If something isn't listed here, it's because we decided against it — not because we haven't thought of it yet.

Alongside
Clinical Care
- not instead of it.

Samsāra Sanctuary will operate alongside licensed clinical partners, not in place of them. Hospitality and clinical care are different disciplines, each doing what it does best — one is not a substitute dressed up as the other.

This is not an alternative to therapy for guests who need it. It is what should exist alongside it, and rarely does.

These are the pillars.

The building that holds them is not yet built.

Stay close to this.

For those who understand what is being built and want to be part of its early formation.

We will reach out directly as select opportunities to support and shape the foundation become available.

Nobody chooses this.
Not the loss, and not what comes after it.

But we can choose whether the people carrying it have somewhere to go.
